Art in the Park
New Yorkers were invited to sculpt city space in a myriad of colors of string with Danish artist Karoline H. Larsen and American artist Jasmine Zimmerman on May 13, 2007 in McCarren Park, Brooklyn.
Participants were divided into 5 groups of 15-20 participants and asked to track a path, drawing lines and shapes with the string. When the strings were pulled in new directions, the structure gradually changed and a new space and new possibilities arose. Strings of the 5 groups became inter-woven in a giant collective web marking the public space in a new way. Passers-by and observers were invited to join and carry on.
